On June 11th, 2025, Steward May was o to the diaconate at St. Lawrence Church in his hometown of Belloram by Bishop John Watton. Steward had been a licensed lay minister for 40 years, and has completed a Diploma in Theology, and the Associate in Theology, both from Queen’s College. Rev’d May was surrounded by his family, and many friends, along with many members of the clergy, licensed lay ministers, and eucharistic assistants. During his homily, Bishop Watton expressed the importance of deacons in the community, and in essence that deacons in the Bible are servants, called to serve the needs of the Church, ensuring that the community is cared for. Bishop Watton shared that all priests must never forget that they are always deacons.
