On Friday, March 7th, an ecumenical World Day of Prayer service was hosted by women from St. James Church, Carbonear, with participation from St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Salvation Army, and Bethany United Church. It was well attended by people from near and far. The service highlighted the life and concerns of the people of the Cook Islands while promoting prayerful action for all genders and ages to help raise awareness of others throughout the world.
The theme, “I Made You Wonderful,” was celebrated throughout the service through scripture, prayer, and music from Don Crane and Gloria Mercer. Our guest speaker, Pam Norman, gave a touching witness of her amazing life and how God made her wonderful!
Gloria and Lester Mercer, along with members of St. James congregation, did a fantastic job with the colourful decorations and the floral headdresses worn by participants. A time of food and fellowship following the service even included Cook Islands cookies! A wonderful time was had by all!
