The Rev’d Joshua Haggstrom Ordained a Priest

On April 10th, 2025, the Rev’d Joshua Haggstom was ordained to the sacred priesthood at Holy Trinity Church in Codroy, NL, by Bishop John Organ. The service was well attended by clergy and lay people alike. A supper was served at the fire hall for all before the service, and a luncheon was served at the church after the service. This gave everyone a chance to have fellowship with Rev’d Joshua and also Bishop John. It was a very beautiful service, and Holy Trinity was so pleased to be able to host it. Rev’d Joshua is now the priest-in-charge at the Parish of Grand Bay, which consists of 3 churches: Holy Trinity in Codroy, St. Paul’s in Grand Bay, and St. John the Evangelist in Cape Ray. We want to wish Rev’d Joshua all the best as he starts this new chapter in his ministry.

A Night of Remembrance and Giving

On December 23rd, 2024, we had our annual Memorial Tree Lighting service at Holy Trinity Church in Codroy. Loved ones’ names were read out by the lay readers as the lights shone brightly from the tree. The names of all were also on the tree in their memory. This is a lovely way to remember all those who have gone on before us.

Also, at that service, we had 31 chemo caps taken to the church, and a prayer was said over them by The Rev’d Deacon Joshua Haggstrom. These caps were knitted or crocheted by our ACW ladies and others. They were later donated to our local hospital.

Thank you to all of the people involved in this worthwhile project.

New Wine Gospel Group’s Concert in Codroy

On April 25th, The New Wine Gospel Group along with Willie Parsons (on accordion) entertained an audience at the Codroy Valley Fire Hall for a fundraiser for Holy Trinity Church. It was a wonderful evening with great music. The evening ended with a lunch and great fellowship.

Easter at Holy Trinity, Codroy

On Saturday, March 29th, 2024, Holy Trinity Church in Codroy hosted an Easter party for the children in the community. It was a fun afternoon, with crafts, games, an Easter egg hunt and lunch. We also had a visit from the Easter bunny. The children went home with bags of treats and memories.

Church Hosts Successful Ecumenical Service For Good Cause

On April 25th. Holy Trinity Church in Codroy hosted an ecumenical service with St. Anne’s Church in Upper Ferry. We welcomed Father Prakash and St. Anne’s Choir to join us. We also welcomed Megan Laite and also Brooklyn Cormier for their beautiful solos. Music was provided by Dave Osmond. A wonderful lunch was served and enjoyed by all. All donations received from the service was donated to the breakfast program at Belanger High School. Many thanks to everyone who came out and supported this worthwhile event. It truly was a wonderful event.

Easter Party at Holy Trinity, Codroy

Holy Trinity Church, Codroy, had a very successful Easter party on April 8th. The children took part in an egg hunt, did crafts, and played games. The Easter Bunny made a surprise visit, which seemed to be the highlight of the day. After a fun afternoon, the children enjoyed a lunch and received a treat bag to take home with them. Many thanks to all who helped make this such a successful event.

Christmas in Codroy

Christmas Eve was a busy time at Holy Trinity Church in Codroy. Pictured with this article are just a couple of pictures from the service. Arlene Samms sang a beautiful solo which was enjoyed by all. One of the Sunday School children, Liam Samms, put the baby Jesus figurine in the stable, and Elizabeth Carter and Shayden Samms lit the candles on the Advent wreath. It was a beautiful service and enjoyed by all.

Memorial Christmas Tree Lighting with Blue Christmas

On Dec.18th, 2022, Holy Trinity Church in Codroy, held their annual Memorial Tree lighting service. Loved ones’ names were read out by lay ministers, as bulbs were lit and cards were put on the tree by their family members. It was a lovely way to remember all of our loved ones who have gone on before us at Christmas time.

We also incorporated our “Blue Christmas” into our evening program service. This is a beautiful service to help all those who are lonely or sad at that time of year, and perhaps don’t experience joy in the Christmas season for various reasons. Our church family acknowledged those very real feelings by using blue lights, and blue candles to decorate the church. Many thanks to all who helped in any way with this service.

ACW Donates Hygiene Products

The ACW ladies of Holy Trinity Church, Codroy, collected and donated personal hygiene bags to the LeGrow Health Center in Port Aux Basques. There are times when someone may find themselves having to spend time in the hospital at a moment’s notice, and they don’t have any hygiene products with them. These kits are filled with soap, a toothbrush and toothpaste, shampoo, etc. which would be very helpful to them. Many thanks go to all who donated them. Rev’d Faye presented them to Cathy Buffet and Sadie Hardy on behalf of the ACW.

Special Guests in Codroy

On July 31st, 2022, Holy Trinity Church in Codroy welcomed two special guests: the Rev’d Gerald Moore and the Rev’d Ralph Moore. The brothers, who were once residents of Codroy, officiated at the 3pm Holy Eucharistic service, with Rev’d Gerald as the celebrant and Rev’d Ralph delivering the sermon. Rev’d Gerald is the rector of the Parish of Wolfe Island in Ontario, and Rev’d Ralph is the rector of the Parish of Milton and Rustico in Prince Edward Island. Pictured at the top of this page in the back is Rev’d Gerald on the left and Rev’d Ralph on the right. In front is the Rev’d Faye Coffin, rector of the Parish of Grand Bay, on the left, and lay minister Linda Kendell (who is the sister of the two brothers) is on the right.
