]]> On February 1st, 2026, St. James’ Church in Port aux Basques welcomed into the Kingdom of God Abigail Sophia Ryan with the sacrament of baptism. Abigail was The Rev’d Kuda’s first baptism since becoming priest-in-charge here at St. James’. A warm welcome was extended to The Rev’d Mickton Phiri and his family, who joined us for worship. Rev’d Phiri serves as our Diocesan Administrator and is the rector at St. Michael and All Angels’ Church in Corner Brook. It was a beautiful church service which was followed by a fellowship in our Memorial Centre.

ACW Anniversary and All Saints’ Day
On November 1, 2025, the ACW Ladies of St. James’ Church in Port aux Basques started their morning with a service of Holy Communion, led by Rev’d Kuda, to celebrate their 127th Anniversary and also to keep All Saints’ Day. Following the service, they gathered at the Memorial Centre for lunch.

Cold Plate Fundraiser
On October 28th the ACW Ladies of St. James’ Church prepared cold plates for sale as a fundraiser for their Church. Great day of fellowship and hard work. A huge thank you to all the ladies who helped to make this a great success.

Advent Quiet Day in Port aux Basques
On Friday, November 28th, 2025, the ACW (Anglican Church Women) of St. James’ Church in Port aux Basques held their annual ‘Advent Quiet Day’. The event featured a beautiful worship service led by Rev. Kudawashe Madzime under the theme, “Listening/Obeying the Voice of God”. Following Communion, the ladies enjoyed a bagged lunch and then decorated the hall for Christmas. It was a wonderful morning of fellowship and worship.

]]> On Sunday, June 22nd, St. James’ Church in Port aux Basques had a service of prayer and praise followed by a potluck luncheon in the Memorial Centre. This was to wish the Rev’d Jane Allen, priest-in-charge, and the Rev’d Faye Coffin, assistant priest, a farewell on their retirement. It was also to thank them both for their ministry to St. James’. They will certainly be missed, but we wish them well in their future endeavours.

]]> On May 11th, 2025, St. James’ Church in Port aux Basques had a service of confirmation.\Bishop John Organ administered the sacrament of confirmation. Eleven children received the laying on of hands. A beautiful lunch was provided after the service in our Memorial Centre.

A special thank you to Gail Northcott, who is our confirmation teacher. Her dedication does not go unnoticed, and she was presented with a gift from the class.
