Annual Christmas Cantata in Grand Bay

St. Paul’s New Wine Gospel Choir (Grand Bay) held their annual Christmas Cantata on December 21st. It was a wonderful celebration of the Christmas story through music and storytelling, but mostly music. These are a couple of photos from that evening, featuring the cast of characters and some members of the choir.

Walkathaon in Grand Bay

Members of the vestry and other members of the congregation who attend St. Paul’s Church in Grand Bay, in the Parish of Grand Bay, held a walkathon on June 14th. The walk was from St. Paul’s Church to the beautiful Grand Bay West beach and back. Thank you to all of the walkers and to everyone who sponsored the walkers. At the end of the walk the participants had a time of fellowship with a luncheon.

Andrew Joshua Haggstrom Ordained Deacon in Grand Bay

The ordination of Catechist Andrew Joshua Haggstrom took place on November 14th, 2024, at St. Paul’s Church in Grand Bay. Rev’d Deacon Joshua is in the Parish of Grand Bay. There were attendees from the three churches that make up the Parish of Grand Bay, as well as a large contingent from the rest of the Diocese of Western Newfoundland. Included with this article are a few of the pictures from this very special event in Joshua’s ministry. There was a fellowship luncheon after the service.

New Wine visits Lark Harbour

On July 21st St.Paul’s New Wine Gospel group made a trip to Lark Harbour. They, along with a few members of our congregation, joined Rev’d Effie in the Saint James’ Anglican Church service of song and praise on the last night of their “Come Home Year” celebrations. It was a beautiful service with music from our group and some local singers and musicians. It was wonderful to visit Rev’d Effie and her church family.

A Grand Bay Farewell for Rev’d Faye

June 30th, 2024 was The Rev’d Faye Coffin’s last official service in St. Paul’s Church in Grand Bay. A huge “thank you” to her for her five years of service to our Parish of Grand Bay. We wish her and Ossie all the best in her retirement. She has, without a doubt, touched many lives in our parish with her ministry, and for that we are very thankful. We shall miss her. The New Wine Gospel Group provided the music for the service, playing some of Rev’d Faye’s favourites. There was a potluck lunch served after the service where Rev’d Faye received a gift from our vestry as well as other cards and gifts.

New Wine Gospel Group’s Concert in Codroy

On April 25th, The New Wine Gospel Group along with Willie Parsons (on accordion) entertained an audience at the Codroy Valley Fire Hall for a fundraiser for Holy Trinity Church. It was a wonderful evening with great music. The evening ended with a lunch and great fellowship.

Fall Sale and Hymn Sing, St. Paul’s Grand Bay

St. Paul’s (Grand Bay) ACW held their annual fall sale on November 4th. It was a great success and they would like to thank everyone who helped and everyone who attended the event.

On November 5th, St. Paul’s held the annual hymn sing service. It was a beautiful service with music by the New Wine Gospel group and our organist Lori Billard.

Stewardship project in Grand Bay raises $700 for PWRDF

As part of their confirmation stewardship project, the confirmation students from the Parish of Grand Bay sold tickets on gift cards. As a result, they raised $700. These funds are being donated to the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund to help buy a farm for a family. Their hard work exemplified the Church’s mission of making a positive impact by helping those in need, reaffirming the power of collective kindness and compassion.

End of Year Fellowship For Grand Bay ACW

The ACW of St. Paul’s Church in Grand Bay, after a successful year, had their last meeting before the summer on Wednesday, May 10. Before the meeting, there was a roast beef dinner with all the trimmings. The dinner was served and the cleanup was done, by some fine gentlemen from our congregation. At the meeting, our President (Norma Simms) presented a cheque to the Rev’d Faye Coffin.

The evening was a great time of fellowship and fun.
